Note: Rick has lived in Buenos Aires for many years. He works for La Cámara de Comercio de los Estados Unidos en la Republica Argentina, which is the American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina.Since Mar. 1968 we've set up shop here on the western shore of the Mar Dulce, better known as the Río de la Plata. Our son Martín was born in Nov. of that year...and this year he and his wife, Adriana are celebrating their 10th! They are the parents of our two granddaughters, Florencia (7) and Marina (5). I've been regular staff with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Argentina since 2000. AMCHAM Argentina is connected with the U.S. Chamber in DC. This year it's celebrating its 90th Anniversary. It's privately run sustained and run by its members which total almost 800. All of the direct U.S. investment in Argentina are members which makes up around 40% of the total membership. The rest are a mix of locals and international partnership. Of the bi-lateral chambers in Argentina, after Brazil it's the largest and oldest. We have a fairly heavy clout with local government since a big chunk of export revenues come from some of our big names...Cargill, Monsanto, Exxon, etc. Anyway, I help out with the marketing and promotion of activities and events. It's fun relaxed and faraway from the world of corporate octane poisoning. -- Rick |
